Tuition Fee
Financing
Illustration: AdobeStockThe tuition fee is €4,300 per semester, plus a (pro-rata) semester fee (currently €85). The total cost of the Master’s programme is €12,900.
As a part-time professional development Master’s programme, we are required to charge fees under the Thuringian Higher Education Act and must be entirely self-financing. Our aim is to keep costs fair and as stable as possible. We are not a commercial organisation. The fees are invested entirely in teaching, research, organisation and modern teaching formats. The costs are tax-deductible and can be paid in instalments upon request (except for international students).
Important information:
- You can usually claim the costs of this further education as business expenses against tax and receive an average refund of €3,000–5,000. You can find more information here (https://www.studieren-berufsbegleitend.de/kosten-finanzierung/steuerlich-absetzen/)External link
- Payment is due at the start of each semester and can also be made in instalments.
- Many employers support their employees’ master’s studies (financially or through time off work) – speak to your employer!
- International students must pay the full amount of €12,900 upon enrolment at the start of their studies.
- The pro-rata semester fee is an administration charge (covering, amongst other things, enrolment and a student card).
- Travel and accommodation costs for the graduation weekend in Jena are not included in the tuition fees. However, our programme coordination team will be happy to assist you in planning your travel and accommodation arrangements on site.
Bildungsurlaub (educational leave)

Bildungsurlaub is a specific type of leave from work in Germany (except Bavaria and Saxony) which allows employees to attend further education and training while being fully paid and not losing vacation days. Our course is officially approved as a Bildungsveranstaltung (educational program) by the following states:
- Thuringa: by the Thuringa Department for Education, Youth and Sport on the basis of §§ 8, 9 und 10 Thuringa Bildungsfreistellungsgesetz (here you can find further information about the educational leave in ThuringaExternal link)
- Berlin: by the Senate Office for Integration, Labor and Social Affairs on the basis of § 11 (1) des Berliner Bildungsurlaubsgesetzes (here you can find further information about the educational leave in BerlinExternal link)
We will be happy to send you a notice of recognition in the above-mentioned federal states on request. Usually, with this recognition, educational leave for our intensive week can also be applied for with the respective employer in all other federal states.
